Scalcione Instruments
The passion!
Michael Scalcione is the passion behind Scalcione Instruments. A multi-talented individual having more than 35 years experience serving the music community.
At the age of six, Michael began piano lessons and then compounded guitar lessons at the age of nine to later solidify his remarkable vocation. In addition to his formal training in music theory, composition and Jazz studies, Michael’s interest in mechanics, electronics and woodworking found an outlet in repairs and modifications for his instruments. By his late-teens, Michael was playing professionally in numerous bands in the Greater NYC Area and often being asked by colleagues to fix their instruments. Basic setup adjustments led to hardware/electronics upgrades, which led to instrument mods, amplifier tweaks & custom guitar builds.
In his early twenties, Michael began his apprenticeship with Sigma Sound Studios NY which led to a successful career as a recording/mixing engineer and producer working with renowned recording artists such as: Bad BrainsBruce SpringsteenWhitney HoustonLou ReedThe Talking HeadsJon Bon JoviDr. JohnThe RamonesTeddy PendergrassTed NugentRay CharlesBill FrisellCharlie Hadenand many more... During his many years in the studio, Michael deepened his technical knowledge, expertise and crafts, by continuing to work on instruments while expanding his repertoire in the fields of analog/digital electronics, computer hardware/software design and networking, blossoming a career as an Information Systems Specialist.
In 2015 Michael travelled to Cremona, Italy to attend John Monteleone's Master Classes in Guitar Making, re-awakening his passion in the Craft and Art as a Luthier.
Examples of Michael's passion can be found in the; At The Shop, Custom Builds & Back In Time gallery pages.
